Pick16: Team 5-My Pick here is Steven Jackson. A lot of fantasy players have mentioned that they are dreading this pick. Didn’t take a RB in the first round and now the best option seems to be Steven Jackson and his lowly Rams offense. Don’t fret here fantasy guru. Al though Jackson isn’t touted to be a premier back like Adrian Peterson or even Michael Turner this is one thing to remember about him. More than half of the Rams offense is going to come from Steven Jackson. He’s big and breaks tackles. The Rams are not going to win much this year, but any kind of success is going to be on Jackson’s shoulders.
Pick 17: Team 4- For my second selection I’m grabbing Cedric Benson. I already took a good option at RB with Ray Rice in the first round. Taking Benson means I am solidifying my spots at running back. The Bangles are a team on the rise and fighting for the NFC North should prove to be a plus for using a guy like Benson on a team that is going to fight a scrape to do well. Even if the Bangles fail as a team Benson should look like the light any fantasy player will love to shine on their team.
Pick 18: Team 3- I’m taking Randy Moss. It seems like such a long time ago when I picked Maurice Jones-Drew. I’m getting another pick very soon but I don’t want to risk not getting another impact player. The QB’s and running backs that are left are basically becoming the same type of player. A lot more questions about players will start to surface, however Randy Moss is a constant. Wes Welker is not 100% AND Moss is going to be the guy Brady looks at the most. Two running backs like Ray Rice and Cedric Benson do look good. But wouldn’t you’d rather have Moss snagging down TD’s for your squad rather than hoping your second running back is the guy you hope he can become?
Pick 19: Team 2- Reggie Wayne. I got to say I was leaning another direction for this pick. However the pick before me was Randy Moss. This is exactly how the draft will shape your team more than any amount of research you can amount. I was planning on taking another running back, but with Moss gone that leaves Wayne as the highest touted receiver and he has such an upside. Larry Fitzgerald will be argued but without Kurt Warner taking L-Fitz this high would be too much a risk in that new offense.
Pick 20: Team 1- Deangelo Williams. Maybe I’m taking liberty here, but I have high confidence in my first pick, Chris Johnson. Taking Williams here I can take the risk of him not scoring a lot of touch downs, but running for a lot of yards. Williams is one of only a handful of players to rush for over 1,000 yards each of the last three seasons. Yes, Deangelo will be splitting time with Jonathan Stewart, but maybe I can draft him a few rounds from here. Looking ahead to see what players might be taking can be very helpful. If most teams are stacking up on RB’s early then obtaining depth later in the draft will be very possible.
